For having the best results in eight subjects in the 2016 International General Certificate of Secondary Education of the Cambridge International Examinations, a pupil of Meadow Hall College, Lagos, Enatarari Kalango, has been honoured by the British Council.
The Cambridge International Examinations is conducted across the six continents of the world and its qualifications are recognised by universities and employers internationally.
Kalango achieved A-stars in English, Mathematics, Biology, Geography, Literature, Business Studies, Economics, History and ICT.
The teenager, who plans to study Economics at the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom, thanked her family and school for giving her support.
“My base of support was and still is my family. They prayed for me, motivated me and reassured me that I could be the best. Knowing that I have parents who tailored every decision they made for my good, how could I not strive to make them proud? My school also created a system where peers worked together and improvements were rewarded at the same time. I believe my success has made me to resolve to keep working hard in my academics and extra-curricular activities, ” she said.
Speaking at the awards, the principal of the school, Mrs. Senami Adepoju, commended the awardee for her achievements.
“Enatarari has always been the best in anything she does. She was also the 2016 valedictorian having obtained the highest Grade Point Average in her Year Group. She got the highest attainable score in all her subjects in the 2014 Cambridge Checkpoint examination. Meadow Hall is focused on grooming life long learners and building a learning organisation that is conversant with the use of 21st century learning methodologies and strategies,’’she said.
