FG to establish special schools for girls, women

KATSINA—THE Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Aisha Al-hassan, yesterday, said the Federal Government planned to establish special schools for girls and women across the country.

She disclosed this during a visit to Katsina State to sensitise women on government’s social investment programmes, adding that the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, was working on modalities to establish the schools, while pleading with traditional leaders to allow women to go to school.

She said government will  disburse N140 billion for women empo-werment via Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, GEEP.

Earlier, the state’s Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Badiya Mashi, said already over 13,000 women had indicated interest in the GEEP scheme in the state.
