Umar Muhammed, Lafia
The management of Breeze 99.9 FM Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital on Tuesday said it had concluded arrangement to sue the Nasarawa State Government for the demolition of its radio station.
It will be recalled that the radio station was demolished on May 20 2017 by officials of the Nasarawa State Urban Development Board for being situated in a residential area.
The Executive Director of the Breeze 99.9 FM, Dr. Nawani Aboki, said at a press conference, that the management of the station was constrained to go to court as it is the popular wish of the people of Nasarawa State to stem the rising cases of tyranny and dictatorship in the state.
He said, “We have obtained the services of reputable lawyer in the country to prosecute the case. We are constrained to take this step as the government has not considered it necessary to apologise for the action, nor attempted to resolve the matter as well as the massive propaganda and insult by the government to demean my personality and the radio station.’’
Aboki stated further that the management of the station was studying its tapes with a view to petition the Inspector-General of Police on the role the police played during the demolition.
