Former Super Eagles coach, Christian Chukwu, has been appointed as head of the All Progressives Congress talent hunt football competition tagged National Unity Cup Football Competition.
The competition is meant to engage non-league players in the six zones.
Inaugurating the committee at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja on Thursday, the party’s National Youth Leader, Dasuki Jalo, said the competition scheduled to hold in July was part of the party’s initiative to implement programmes that would endear the APC to Nigerian youths.
According to him, the competition is organised in conjunction with zonal and state youth leaders.
Jalo said, “This competition will bring out hidden talents in the field of football which can be showcased to the world for future benefits to individuals and the nation at large. It also has ability to develop individual physical mental thinking and emotions.”
Chukwu, who was represented by former Eagles assistant coach, James Peters, commended the ruling party of the initiative, assuring them that the competition would produce talents to feed the national teams.
