NUJ advises Niger State government not to discriminate in its education policy

By Wole Mosadomi

MINNA —The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Niger State Council, has advised the Niger State Government not to be discriminatory in the implementation of its education policy to the people of the state in order to carry everybody along.

In a Communique issued at the end of its Congress held at the IBB Press Centre in  Minna, Niger State, the Union, while commending the state government in its school renovation steps, advised it not to renege in its free education policy, especially on the payment of examination fees for all categories of students in all public schools in the state, with no particular emphasis on indigenship or religion.

It noted that a situation whereby the non indigenes are discriminated against in the payment of the NECO and WAEC fees negates the spirit of oness being preached by government at all levels in the country.

The congress also lauded the effort of the state government on Minna-Suleja road, but wanted action expedited on the following  Minna-Bida road, Lambata-Lapai- Bida road, Agaie-Katcha- Baro road, Kotongora-Rijau road, Bakani –Tegina – Birni Gwari road among others.
