Buhari: Pro-government protesters hit streets of Abuja

Protesters chanting pro-Buhari slogans took to the streets of Abuja, Nigeria's administrative capital

It's protest day in Nigeria.

There is the "I Stand with Nigeria" protests in Abuja and Lagos, the UK protests at the Nigeria High Commission building and the "I Stand with Buhari" protests in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Pulse' correspondent in the capital city reports that the pro-government protesters converged on the Unity Fountain park just before noon, Nigerian time.

They were wielding placards carrying inscriptions like: "Nigerians support you, Sir"; while chanting pro-Buhari slogans.

Anti-government protesters across Nigeria are railing against a biting economic recession and depreciation of the local currency.

President Muhammadu Buhari who promised to return to his desk on February 6, sought for an extended leave on Sunday, February 5 , citing medical reasons.
