Good news plant and meat eaters, flexitarianism will be one of 2017 hottest food trends.

Flexitarians - aka flexible vegetarians - are people who eat a plant-based diet with the occasional addition of meat.

Which in turns means that, Nigerians who are struggling to be full-time Vegetarians can actually be Flexitarians.

US-based supermarket chain, Whole Foods, have said that flexitarianism is set to be one of the biggest food trends of 2017.

Unlike many other nutritional doctrines - it lets you call the shots. It also seems to be a viable, achievable food attitude.

One of the main benefits of flexitarianism is that it has a whole host of health positives. Daily Mail reported.

Eating less meat has been proven to lower your risk of getting diabetes, cancer and heart disease, while flexitarianism by nature ensures people are eating more vegetables.

'The concept of being a 'flexitarian' can be used by anyone and it simply means you don't have stringent rules,' leading Australian dietitian, Dr Libby Weaver, writes on her website.

Meanwhile Whole Foods also predicted that food items including coconut sugar, coconut crisps, purple vegetables and black garlic puree will also grace the supermarket shelves in 2017. Daily Mail added.
